or RecreationDr. Yunkyung Choi is a Research Fellow under the Chan Heng Chee Research Fellowship in the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. She received her Ph.D. in city and regional planning from Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research is inherently interdisciplinary and explores the complex interaction between built environment and urban transportation systems that affects sustainability and resilience of cities in terms of social, economic, and environmental aspects. She worked on a wide range of research projects that dealt with these issues by employing big data and innovative analytical approaches.
In her doctoral research, she investigated the fitness and function of existing urban transport systems to promote the sustainability of cities. Her dissertation provided insights on how transit-oriented development can be better implemented to promote residents’ sustainable and multimodal travel behavior. Her recent research evaluated the impact of emerging transportation technologies on existing urban infrastructure and travel demand.
She is supporting Belinda and team on the “An Integrated Socio-Temporal Study of Outdo Spaces in Singapore” project.
